About the procedure:
PDO (Polydioxanone) threads have been used for over 30 years as biocompatible resorbable suture materials, in different fields of medicine. With time studies revealed mechanically induced skin tension and stimulation of new cell and collagen formation. Not only do threads lift sagging skin and improve the appearance of cheek jowls and nasolabial lines but they also rejuvenate and improve skin quality and texture.
PDO threads are inserted under the skin carefully, under local anaesthetic, and with the aid of a fine cannula. The threads have little “barbs” which grab onto the skin and lift as the thread is pulled tight. They have a high safety profile with complete absorption within 6 months to a year, having synthesised new collagen in the facial skin.
The procedure causes a small degree of discomfort and downtime, with slight swelling and bruising lasting about a week. Lifting effects are noticeable immediately after the procedure and last up to 2 years depending on age, lifestyle and skin condition.
Best results are seen 3 months after the procedure, as new collagen is created around the threads.
Benefits:
Other treatments such as injectable wrinkle relaxing agents, skin boosters, micro-needling and dermal fillers complement the results and achieve a natural look.
